Tom Ricci (pronounced “Ree-chee”) – So Amor
Album out October 23, 2025
A decade of singles becomes a full-length album with jazz standards, originals, and a new title track finally unveiled.
Los Angeles, CA – Tom Ricci’s new album So Amor is the culmination of a journey that began in 2012 at Entourage Studios (Los Angeles) with the recording of his debut single Simply Love, a song he wrote in his teenage years after a family trip to Brazil. Produced and mixed by multi–Grammy Award winner Rob Chiarelli, and featuring Bruce Becker (drums) and Dave Robaire (bass), the track was released in 2015 and set the tone for the decade to come.
So Amor gathers the best of that decade—a collection of singles and EP highlights refined into a cohesive album—balancing jazz standards like “Mood Indigo,” “Night and Day,” and Jobim’s “Corcovado (Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars)” with originals (Simply Love, Só Amor, Spanish Lament) and weaving colors from bossa nova, blues, tango, and Latin folk. Beyond his role as a vocalist and songwriter, Ricci co-produced and arranged much of the album, while also performing guitar, bass, and drums throughout — underscoring his versatility as both singer and musician.
Standout collaborations include Pipi Piazzolla (drums) and Bruno Migotto (bass) on Bésame Mucho and Naranjo en Flor. Two anchor tracks connect the decade: Simply Love (2012/2015) and the studio debut of the title track Só Amor. Both were produced and mixed by Rob Chiarelli. Vocals for Só Amor were recorded at Estudios ION (Buenos Aires), then remixed by Chiarelli, bringing the journey full circle.
In creating the songs that make up the album, Ricci drew inspiration from performances and collaborations on stages across Asia, Europe, the U.S., and South America — including Blue Note Taipei, Borges 1975 (Buenos Aires), Thelonious (Santiago), Jazz Nos Fundos (São Paulo), LAVO (Shenzhen), and the late Steamers Jazz Club (Fullerton). A pivotal moment came in 2019, when legendary vocalist Barbara Morrison encouraged him after a performance at her Performing Arts Center, later inviting him to share the stage at her next theater show (plans paused by the pandemic).
So Amor isn’t just a collection — it’s a love letter to the past decade of exploration, an intimate, global conversation between voice, song, and the rooms that shaped them.
